We believe that to understand the real impact of a technology, we need to measure individuals in their real-world context. We modify technologies and design new interventions that people can truly adopt as part of their normal daily routine.

Our technology allows us to study the current impact of tools like smartphones, computers, and new generative tools on attention, cognition, and fulfillment. This understanding will serve as the bedrock for intelligent and personalized supportive interfaces of the future.

We are actively recruiting PhD students. Masters researchers and undergraduate researchers are welcome to apply as well. Check here for current openings.

Our team includes graduate students with skills across disciplines including computer science, electronics, design, fabrication, psychology, and statistical modeling/AI.

Our Space

We are conveniently located in the center of Chicago inside DePaul’s Daley Building overlooking State Street. Our lab is a short 3 blocks from Grant Park (home to the famous Chicago Bean and the annual Lollapalooza festival).

Our space is embedded within DePaul’s Idea Realization Lab Maker-space on the third floor, providing easy access to a full woodshop, 3D printers, electronics tools, laser cutters, and other fabrication tools.
